Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter - Red Velvet

To me this is a mix between Fig Jam and Candy Apple, a brown toned red.  This is a perfect color for fall/winter!  I can see myself wearing this quite a bit over the next couple of months.  Like all of the other shades, it's quite pigmented and because this is one of the darker shades, it has almost as much color payoff as lipstick.

Revlon Colorburst Lipstick - Fig Jam

This is the darkest shade of all the ones I bought from the line.  I've read that it's been compared to the Clinique Almost Lipstick in Black Honey.  I think this is slightly warmer with a little bit more brown and red.  The Lip Butter line is also quite a bit more pigmented and the texture is creamier.  Again, a very flattering shade.

I like this shade.  I can't say I love it (especially compared to Cherry Tart!).  It's quite an opaque red but similar to Tutti Frutti, something about it makes the color look a little bit flat and chalky even though it still has a glossy texture.  Go figure.  Still, a pretty good product overall :-)

Along with Pink Truffle, this is my favorite color of the line that I have.  It's a really beautiful glossy red that is a great pop of color.  This is like a glossy and "clearer" version of the 1950's red lipstick updated for today.  I don't wear red lipstick very often but I can see myself wearing this one quite often.  It makes a statement without being overbearing.  I don't think this picture does it justice because it looks slightly berry when it's a true red.  Beautiful!!

Of all the shades, Pink Truffle is the easiest to wear for me, very much a MLBB shade.  It's absolutely lovely!!  Kind of a pinkish nude as you can see.  The color along with the finish really makes my lips look really plump.  The color is extremely flattering and quite elegant.  This is one of my favorites :-)

Revlon Colorburst Lip Butter - Tutti Frutti

I was really excited about this one since I've been really into warm corally shades recently.  I'm not crazy about this one because it's a little bit too orangey for me, I think I like a slightly pinky coral.  Also, the texture of this one makes the color look a little bit chalky.  The picture turned out nice though ;-)

This one is definitely one of the more pigmented of the line.  It's a relatively bright berry/magenta shade, great pop of color.  Not sure this is the best fit for my skin tone so it's not the one I would reach for on a daily basis but it's definitely a fun alternative once in a while.

What better way to start the blog than with my favorite new product line - Revlon Colorburst Lip Butters!!  These just came out within the last few weeks.  Colors that are beautiful and sheer but still quite pigmented, very wearable and with a scent of vanilla/desserts.  Absolutely love them!!!

L to R: Raspberry Pie, Tutti Frutti, Candy Apple, Cherry Tart, Pink Truffle, Red Velvet, Fig Jam

Hello!

Welcome!  I wanted to do something fun to share my interest in beauty products.  For the time being, I wanted to do something simple - reviews and swatches of a variety of lip products.  This is something I've tried to find in the past but wasn't able to other than at Makeupalley.  But I figured it would be helpful to see all the colors and textures on one person under consistent lighting etc.  I'm focusing on mostly drugstore products because I really feel that the quality of drugstore beauty products have improved so much in the last few years that they are really wonderful to use, not to mention sensible in the current economic environment.  There will also be some products that I show that have been discontinued but I'm including them anyway as a chronicle of sorts.

For reference, I'm an Asian woman with medium skintone and light pink undertones.  To begin, this is a picture of my natural lips.  This is a good reference point as I swatch various colors/finishes.  I'm still figuring out how best to organize the products/posts.  I've tagged each post with product descriptions so it's easier to navigate, along with a 1-5 rating system (5 being best).  I'm sure this will all evolve over time!

Ok, enough babbling!  I hope you enjoy it and find it as useful as much as I'm having fun putting this together!  I'd love to hear any feedback you guys have, whether it's about the products or about ways I can improve the blog :-)
